MM#384--Our Long National Nightmare is Over...AGAIN!

FAN MAIL--We would love YOUR feedback--Send us a Text Message

Could the presidency of Donald Trump be a manifestation of divine intervention?

We explore this compelling idea by examining the pivotal roles that Gerald Ford and Donald Trump have played in American history. By reflecting on Jimmy Carter's acknowledgment of Ford's healing influence post-Watergate, we highlight how Ford's leadership helped restore faith in American institutions, despite the backlash from his pardon of Nixon. In a similar light, we consider the perceived divine timing of Trump's presidency, nestled between the tenures of Barack Obama and Joe Biden, suggesting that both leaders--Ford and Trump-- were strategically placed to guide the nation through tumultuous times.

In our episode, we also scrutinize media biases in presidential coverage, comparing the portrayal of Gerald Ford and Joe Biden. Gerald Ford, despite his athletic skills, became the butt of jokes, while Joe Biden's frequent gaffes often receive a softer touch from the media. This leads us to question the media's hesitance to challenge Biden's capabilities in the same way they did Ford's. As we transition from the past four years of leadership, we express gratitude for the lessons learned and urge our listeners to continue advocating for truth and accountability.

00:00:07.612 --> 00:00:20.807
Welcome to the Theory to Action podcast, where we examine the timeless treasures of wisdom from the great books in less time, to help you take action immediately and ultimately to create and lead a flourishing life.

00:00:20.807 --> 00:00:24.850
Now here's your host, david Kaiser.

00:00:26.341 --> 00:00:29.626
Hello, I am David and welcome back to another Mojo Minute.

00:00:29.626 --> 00:00:37.164
Let's go right to our first pull quote For myself and for our nation.

00:00:37.164 --> 00:00:42.713
I want to thank my predecessor for all he has done to heal our land.

00:00:42.713 --> 00:00:50.185
In this outward and physical ceremony we attest once again to the inner and spiritual strength of our nation.

00:00:50.185 --> 00:01:01.109
As my high school teacher, ms Julia Coleman, used to say, we must adjust to changing times and still hold to unchanging principles.

00:01:01.109 --> 00:01:08.143
Here before me is the Bible used in the inauguration of our first president in 1789.

00:01:08.143 --> 00:01:21.486
And I have just taken the oath of office on the Bible my mother gave me a few years ago, open to a timeless admonition from the ancient prophet Micah 6.8.

00:01:21.486 --> 00:01:41.754
This inauguration ceremony marks a new beginning, a new dedication within our government and a new spirit among us all.

00:01:41.754 --> 00:01:49.688
The President may sense and proclaim that new spirit, but only a people can provide it.

00:01:49.688 --> 00:01:58.914
That was part of the inaugural address of Jimmy Carter on Thursday, january 20th 1977.

00:01:58.914 --> 00:02:15.852
Now you will note that I have pulled a quote from the inaugural address of Jimmy Carter, our 39th president of the United States, and someone whom I just ranked last week in our podcast as the third worst president in modern American history.

00:02:15.852 --> 00:02:18.949
So what gives, you might be asking.

00:02:18.949 --> 00:02:22.007
We don't need to hear from him, though.

00:02:22.007 --> 00:02:23.230
May he rest in peace.

00:02:23.230 --> 00:02:27.580
Hear from him, though.

00:02:27.580 --> 00:02:28.002
May he rest in peace.

00:02:28.002 --> 00:02:31.046
Actually, we do need to hear from him because his opening words will be a sort of connecting the dots for us.

00:02:31.046 --> 00:02:39.248
On that fateful morning, thursday, just after 12 noon, jimmy Carter spoke those words again.

00:02:39.248 --> 00:02:47.834
Let us quote him For myself and for our nation I want to thank my predecessor for all that he has done to heal our land.

00:02:47.834 --> 00:03:02.715
He was speaking of our 38th president of the United States, gerald Ford, and you will note that former President Ford did not I repeat, did not make our worst presidents list last week.

00:03:02.715 --> 00:03:05.063
So why or how is that?

00:03:05.063 --> 00:03:11.204
Because Gerald Ford was the right man at the right place for the right situation.

00:03:11.204 --> 00:03:14.509
He did indeed heal our land.

00:03:15.652 --> 00:03:28.395
Gerald Ford's efforts to restore faith in the presidency and the American institutions following the tumultuous Watergate scandal and Nixon's resignation was, to be blunt about it, heroic.

00:03:28.395 --> 00:03:52.850
You will recall that President Ford echoed these famous words in his own inaugural address I'm acutely aware that you have not elected me as your president by your ballots, and so I ask you to confirm me as your president with your prayers, and I hope that such prayers will also be the first of many.

00:03:52.850 --> 00:04:01.411
If you have not chosen me by secret ballot, neither have I gained office by any secret promises.

00:04:01.411 --> 00:04:05.951
I have not campaigned either for the presidency or the vice presidency.

00:04:05.951 --> 00:04:09.566
I have not subscribed to any partisan platform.

00:04:09.566 --> 00:04:16.101
I am indebted to no man and only to one woman, my dear wife Betty.

00:04:16.101 --> 00:04:26.875
And later on we read as I begin this very difficult job my fellow Americans, our long national nightmare is over.

00:04:26.875 --> 00:04:29.848
Our Constitution works.

00:04:29.848 --> 00:04:33.230
Our great republic is a government of laws and not of men.

00:04:33.230 --> 00:04:46.194
Here the people rule, but there is a higher power by whatever name we honor him who ordains not only righteousness but love, not only justice but mercy.

00:04:46.194 --> 00:04:56.879
Again, that was the swearing-in ceremony for Gerald Ford, probably the closest thing Gerald Ford had to an inaugural address.

00:04:56.879 --> 00:05:02.358
And again he is quoted our long national nightmare is over.

00:05:02.358 --> 00:05:06.615
He was referring to the Watergate scandal and its aftermath.

00:05:06.615 --> 00:05:18.228
The phrase was a key part of that inaugural address upon assuming the presidency on August 9, 1974, following Richard Nixon's abrupt resignation.

00:05:19.471 --> 00:05:23.399
The Watergate scandal had several significant impacts on the nation.

00:05:23.399 --> 00:05:26.790
First, the political turmoil it led to.

00:05:26.790 --> 00:05:34.875
The scandal, which led ultimately to a constitutional crisis, had eroded public trust in government institutions.

00:05:34.875 --> 00:05:53.416
The presidential resignation of Richard Nixon was the first and only US president to resign from office, and the national distress from the events surrounding Watergate caused widespread anger, deep disgust and deep distrust among the American people.

00:05:53.416 --> 00:05:57.869
Disgust and deep distrust among the American people.

00:05:57.869 --> 00:06:01.321
It was much of the reason that we ranked Richard Nixon our second worst president in modern American history.

00:06:01.321 --> 00:06:08.257
So two presidencies, richard Nixon and Jimmy Carter, and both made our worst ranked presidents list.

00:06:09.685 --> 00:06:15.738
And so we come to Donald Trump's inauguration and something familiar seems to be happening.

00:06:15.738 --> 00:06:28.899
Barack Obama was our fifth worst-ridden president in modern American history, and Donald Trump seceded him, most likely when most of the country didn't know we needed Donald Trump back in 2016.

00:06:28.899 --> 00:06:31.994
And now we have Donald Trump again.

00:06:31.994 --> 00:06:54.819
And now we have Donald Trump again, someone who has made the greatest political comeback in modern American history, passing even Richard Nixon's comeback, which, in political science terms, was quite incredible.

00:06:54.819 --> 00:06:57.745
But Donald Trump has now made the most incredible comeback in modern American history.

00:06:57.745 --> 00:07:08.685
He's also taking over for what will be the very worst president, for sure, since 1912 when Woodrow Wilson.

00:07:10.607 --> 00:07:20.781
Does anyone not see the divine hand of God putting Gerald Ford at the right place at the right time to serve the country between two of our worst presidencies.

00:07:20.781 --> 00:07:34.680
And now does anyone see Donald Trump coming along in 2016 and then being sandwiched between another set of worst presidencies ever between Barack Obama and Joe Biden?

00:07:34.680 --> 00:07:45.180
And here again is Donald Trump assuming the presidency as our 45th and now our 47th president of the United States.

00:07:45.180 --> 00:07:51.757
Oh, the irony of God's divine hand in guiding our nation.

00:07:51.757 --> 00:07:56.175
For those with eyes, see, see and those with ears, hear.

00:07:56.175 --> 00:08:02.699
Gerald Ford was the right man at the right time and the right place for our country in 1974.

00:08:02.699 --> 00:08:09.413
Gerald Ford became the only US president to take office without being elected as vice president or president.

00:08:11.425 --> 00:08:23.120
Initially popular for his honest and relatable image, his decision to pardon Nixon just a month into his presidency was extremely and deeply controversial.

00:08:23.120 --> 00:08:32.576
While he did hope the pardon would help heal the nation after Watergate, the nation saw it otherwise.

00:08:32.576 --> 00:08:41.995
So in today's Mojo Minute, let us collectively say another long national nightmare is over.

00:08:41.995 --> 00:08:46.288
Thanks be to God Again.

00:08:46.288 --> 00:08:48.836
Thanks be to God.

00:08:48.836 --> 00:08:51.994
Our long national nightmare is indeed over.

00:08:51.994 --> 00:08:59.938
The most corrupt presidency has been turned over in power and has exited the White House.

00:09:02.567 --> 00:09:18.951
And one more twist of irony in history Gerald Ford was lampooned by a new startup comedy show in the mid-1970s named Saturday Night Live startup comedy show in the mid-1970s, named Saturday Night Live After he stumbled once on an airport tarmac.

00:09:18.951 --> 00:09:25.275
The show ran with it, turning the former star athlete into the butt of countless jokes as a clumsy buffoon.

00:09:25.275 --> 00:09:31.490
Keep in mind, gerald Ford was a college all-star in football.

00:09:31.490 --> 00:09:56.594
And so, for the irony of ironies, our most corrupt and worst president ever, joe Biden, tripped up more steps than all other presidents combined, and the propaganda press never wanted to report his mental diminished state, never even want to ask questions about it, wanted to keep it all hush-hush for four years.

00:09:56.594 --> 00:10:07.307
So let us thank God our long national nightmare of not having a president for the last four years has passed.

00:10:07.307 --> 00:10:13.158
Amen, as always, keep fighting the good fight.

00:10:13.505 --> 00:10:15.792
As always keep fighting the good fight.
