00:00:07.612 --> 00:00:20.807
Welcome to the Theory to Action podcast, where we examine the timeless treasures of wisdom from the great books in less time, to help you take action immediately and ultimately to create and lead a flourishing life.
00:00:20.807 --> 00:00:24.849
Now here's your host, david Kaiser.
00:00:33.640 --> 00:00:35.723
Hello, I am David and welcome back to another Mojo Minute and our first Mojo Minute of the new year.
00:00:35.723 --> 00:01:04.075
So we can still tell you Merry Christmas, because we go for 12 days on what we call Christmas tide, or the Christmas season, from Christmas December 25th to January 5th, or the Feast of the Epiphany, which means manifestation, ironically, and when the church celebrates the coming of the Magi to adore our Lord Jesus Christ.
00:01:04.075 --> 00:01:08.430
But that is not the topic of today's podcast.
00:01:08.430 --> 00:01:17.745
Today's podcast, we're going to look back over the year and see what is the best way to kick off a new year.
00:01:17.745 --> 00:01:26.912
After all, we're approaching 500 total episodes on this podcast and we have covered an untold number of books.
00:01:26.912 --> 00:01:38.153
Frankly, I've simply lost track of how many unique books we have covered over the years, but there has to be a couple of main nuggets of wisdom that universally work each and every time.
00:01:38.153 --> 00:01:47.700
So, as I began scanning back over the years and over those 500 episodes, or just short of 500 episodes, I found three nuggets.
00:01:47.700 --> 00:01:57.195
Three nuggets, I believe, are fundamentals, universal fundamentals to having a fantastic 2025.
00:01:57.195 --> 00:01:59.962
And we're going to explore them here.
00:02:00.783 --> 00:02:12.473
First, and probably most importantly, the more I reflect upon my concerted effort for the last 15 years of trying to get after it each and every day.
00:02:12.473 --> 00:02:17.137
I believe you have to start your day off well.
00:02:17.137 --> 00:02:37.225
Those times when I have not started my day off well, everything becomes a rat race and I frankly miss half the things that I wanted to do that day, whether those would be professionally or personally, or a focus item that I wanted to really have, a project that I really wanted to get done.
00:02:37.225 --> 00:02:46.212
When you don't start your day off well, everything just gets hectic just the way we live our lives here in the 21st century.
00:02:46.212 --> 00:02:56.905
And you can have a morning routine that you can repeatedly do 90 to 95 to 98% of the time.
00:02:56.905 --> 00:03:09.530
Guarantee it, it's only those five to 10% of the time do you get absolutely upside down and crazy things happen and kids are sick or whatever.
00:03:09.530 --> 00:03:25.496
But normally, normally, if you wake up an hour to an hour and a half before everyone else does, you can get your personal time in what we call the miracle morning time, and if you're not starting a routine, you're missing out.
00:03:25.496 --> 00:03:37.771
We have covered this in the great books before, from Darren Hardy's the Compound Effect to Jocko Willink's Leadership Manual, and most expressly it's talked about in Howl Elrod's the Miracle Morning.
00:03:37.771 --> 00:03:44.277
In fact, let's grab a quote from Howl Elrod's Miracle Morning to emphasize this point.
00:03:44.277 --> 00:03:45.389
Go on to the book.
00:03:48.486 --> 00:03:58.538
How you wake up each day in your morning routine, or lack thereof, dramatically affects your levels of success in every single area of your life.
00:03:58.538 --> 00:04:23.576
Focused, productive, successful mornings generate focused, productive, successful days, which inevitably create a successful life, in the same way that unfocused, unproductive and mediocre mornings generate you guessed it unfocused, unproductive and mediocre days and ultimately, a mediocre quality of life.
00:04:23.576 --> 00:04:33.475
By simply changing the way you wake up in the morning, you can transform any area of your life faster than you ever thought possible.
00:04:33.475 --> 00:04:40.016
Without a doubt, hal Elrod is absolutely right.
00:04:40.016 --> 00:04:44.007
Hal Elrod is absolutely right.
00:04:44.007 --> 00:04:49.399
If there is one thing I can impress upon any of you is create and maintain a successful morning routine.
00:04:49.399 --> 00:04:56.355
The Miracle Morning is a wonderful way to just start to create that framework, but you'll tweak it.
00:04:56.355 --> 00:05:05.199
I've tweaked mine hundreds of times over the years, but I've always kept that morning framework.
00:05:05.199 --> 00:05:09.415
So I'm crushing it before most people are getting out of bed.
00:05:09.415 --> 00:05:12.814
So again, that was from Hal Elrod.
00:05:12.814 --> 00:05:21.819
And again all these three books Darren Hardy's the Compound Effect, jocko Willink's Leadership Manual and Hal Elrod's Miracle Morning all of them.
00:05:21.819 --> 00:05:27.194
We've talked about all these books and covered them here on the podcast.
00:05:27.194 --> 00:05:31.249
In fact, two of them are in our Mojo Academy Library, so check those out there.
00:05:31.249 --> 00:05:32.630
Member library.
00:05:34.274 --> 00:05:41.293
Now our first nugget is that you do have to create a morning routine that you can crush 95, 98% of the time.
00:05:41.293 --> 00:05:47.805
And again, we're allowing for those crazy days when something happens and you have to run out the door before you've even had time to think.
00:05:47.805 --> 00:05:49.511
You know it's called the fired row.
00:05:49.511 --> 00:05:51.516
Uh, you're just like every fireman.
00:05:51.516 --> 00:05:56.117
You just got to get up, put your clothes on and get out the door because something crazy has happened.
00:05:56.117 --> 00:05:59.649
We get it, but that's not 95% of the time.
00:05:59.649 --> 00:06:01.952
Too many folks believe that it is.
00:06:01.952 --> 00:06:06.259
They always want to make excuses for not being able to have that time.
00:06:06.259 --> 00:06:19.841
You know, if we just ran the numbers 365 days of the year, you know at 95% of that, we're allowing for some 20 days that you're given a free pass when the world and life's just going to get crazy.
00:06:19.841 --> 00:06:30.456
And that's not the significant times when you have a passing of a loved one or you just started a new job or you just had a birth in the family.
00:06:30.456 --> 00:06:34.995
Those are all different circumstances.
00:06:34.995 --> 00:06:39.377
95% of us don't live with those circumstances all the time.
00:06:39.377 --> 00:06:45.228
So the rest of the time, you can and you should want to execute your morning routine.
00:06:45.228 --> 00:06:49.677
So that's just one step towards crushing your 2025 goals.
00:06:50.446 --> 00:07:00.576
The second nugget of wisdom after looking back over the last three years is we have to develop systems and habits.
00:07:00.576 --> 00:07:09.935
Now in Mojo, Minute number three, all the way back in Mojo, minute number three, back in the day, we talked about systems and goals.
00:07:09.935 --> 00:07:23.036
How to develop systems that you can execute every day towards your goals is a much better mindset than developing your goals and then trying to create a new to-do list each and every day.
00:07:23.036 --> 00:07:30.793
Simply create a system and then allow your goals to flow from that system.
00:07:30.793 --> 00:07:40.346
As an example, a professional golfer doesn't wake up and say I want to win the Masters and then creates a to-do list on how to win the Masters.
00:07:40.346 --> 00:07:48.228
The most successful golfers wake up and say my system is I'm going to hit 500 shots.
00:07:48.228 --> 00:07:58.005
There's going to be 500 times a club is going to strike a ball and I'm going to perfect that swing so much that it's going to become second nature to me.
00:07:58.005 --> 00:08:01.903
And then, from there, that system is going to evolve and it's going to.
00:08:01.903 --> 00:08:13.158
You're going to be hitting long irons and short irons and you're going to work on your putting game and you're going to work on your, your driving game, and all of that's going to be a culmination of things, but again, it's a system.
00:08:13.158 --> 00:08:27.447
In the system is the, the, the goals are the outgrowth from the system, and that's what you want to be able to do is where you're replicating and developing systems, rather than just creating a goal and then working back.
00:08:30.377 --> 00:08:37.767
I'll put a link in the show notes to Mojo, minute number three, because it's just that fantastic, where we broke everything down.
00:08:37.767 --> 00:08:51.225
In fact, we came back on the same nugget of wisdom on Mojo Minute 79, where Scott Adams, the author of how to Fail at Almost Everything, shares that same unique wisdom with us.
00:08:51.225 --> 00:08:52.989
It's funny.
00:08:52.989 --> 00:08:55.660
He calls it in his own nugget of wisdom.
00:08:55.660 --> 00:09:02.326
He calls it goals are for losers, and we explore that whole theme in that Mojo Minute 79.
00:09:02.326 --> 00:09:04.403
I'll put 79 in there as well.
00:09:04.403 --> 00:09:24.278
So that is a second nugget of wisdom that will help you to crush your 2025 goals, your 2025 desires, your 2025 desires.
00:09:24.278 --> 00:09:32.566
Now our third nugget of wisdom is the power of ideas and how and where we find these ideas at and for that, we're going to go to our book of the day, and I've shared this book with you before, but it's a wonderful book, so we're going to come back to the well again.
00:09:33.575 --> 00:09:37.202
Book is Jim Rohn's Leading an Inspired Life.
00:09:37.202 --> 00:09:39.547
It's one of the modern classics of our age.
00:09:39.547 --> 00:09:52.621
In it, rohn says this about ideas Ideas can change your life and sometimes all you need is just one more good idea and a series of good ideas.
00:09:52.621 --> 00:09:56.325
It's like dialing the numbers of a combination lock.
00:09:56.325 --> 00:10:05.272
After you've dialed five or six numbers, the lock may not open, but you probably don't need five or six more times or numbers.
00:10:05.272 --> 00:10:13.639
Maybe you just need one more number, one more idea.
00:10:13.639 --> 00:10:14.864
Maybe a seminar or a sermon that can provide it.
00:10:14.864 --> 00:10:15.726
The lyrics from a song could do it.
00:10:15.726 --> 00:10:17.293
The dialogue from a movie could do it.
00:10:17.293 --> 00:10:21.384
The conversation you might have with a friend could do it.
00:10:21.384 --> 00:10:25.655
If you keep your eyes and your ears open, you'll find that.
00:10:25.655 --> 00:10:27.278
One last idea you need.
00:10:27.278 --> 00:10:32.956
Once you find that idea, the lock comes open and there's the door for you to walk through.
00:10:32.956 --> 00:10:36.623
Just one more idea, no matter where you get.
00:10:36.623 --> 00:10:43.158
It may be all you need to open that door to your opportunity.
00:10:43.158 --> 00:10:46.583
How incredible is that?
00:10:46.583 --> 00:10:51.890
Just one idea, just one big idea, could change your life.
00:10:53.394 --> 00:10:56.017
Now, how and where do we find these ideas?
00:10:56.017 --> 00:10:56.677
Where do we look?
00:10:56.677 --> 00:11:02.282
Well, for me, the best gold mine I have ever found is in books.
00:11:02.282 --> 00:11:07.465
Good books have many golden nuggets of wisdom.
00:11:07.465 --> 00:11:12.188
They're like little treasure chests, in fact.
00:11:12.188 --> 00:11:17.952
Let's go back to this same book for another golden nugget of wisdom, as an example.
00:11:17.952 --> 00:11:26.489
The consistent, disciplined, purposeful, constant search for knowledge.
00:11:26.489 --> 00:11:30.256
It's where the life-changing ideas are.
00:11:30.256 --> 00:11:33.081
Pursue knowledge with high expectations.
00:11:33.081 --> 00:11:35.326
Spend the money, the time and the effort.
00:11:35.326 --> 00:11:51.272
They are all investments, yes, but the payoff is so great it's hard to compare the cost to the reward.
00:11:51.272 --> 00:11:51.914
Absolutely correct.
00:11:54.375 --> 00:11:58.125
So, on today's Mojo Minute, let us not be distracted by the fr age of books.
00:11:58.125 --> 00:12:02.946
Right now, we can access them on our phones, on our tablets.
00:12:02.946 --> 00:12:06.445
We can even just go and physically buy them.
00:12:06.445 --> 00:12:08.961
We have tons of bookstores all around us.
00:12:08.961 --> 00:12:13.339
They're right there waiting on us to read them.
00:12:13.339 --> 00:12:14.840
We can access them on our phones, on our tablets.
00:12:15.201 --> 00:12:18.711
So, to recap, first, we have to start our day off well.
00:12:18.711 --> 00:12:26.933
Got to develop that consistent morning routine that maximizes your time and your effectiveness before the day gets away from you.
00:12:26.933 --> 00:12:33.452
Second, we got to develop systems and habits that contribute to where we want to go.
00:12:33.452 --> 00:12:36.840
By doing both, we're going to be helping ourselves greatly.
00:12:36.840 --> 00:12:56.164
They are both the force multipliers in our battles our battles against ourselves, against our procrastination, against our laziness, against just ourselves in nature, human nature, how we just don't want to go through with some of the stuff we should be doing each and every day.
00:12:56.164 --> 00:12:58.511
And finally, the power of ideas we should be doing each and every day.
00:12:58.511 --> 00:13:00.417
And finally, the power of ideas.
00:13:00.417 --> 00:13:04.691
We should be reading a lot of good books every year.
00:13:04.691 --> 00:13:16.509
Let us read and search for those ideas, that search for the power of ideas among books, the good books that we have access to, just at our fingertips.
00:13:16.509 --> 00:13:27.951
By doing all three of these nuggets of wisdom, we will have the best foot forward to kick off this first step in 2025.
00:13:27.951 --> 00:13:33.871
Very, very well, and we will have started to build a flourishing life for 2025.
00:13:34.980 --> 00:13:42.153
Now, speaking of books, if you need any good book recommendations, I wrote a piece at our website, teammojoacademycom.
00:13:42.153 --> 00:13:43.544

I'll leave a link in the show notes.
00:13:51.806 --> 00:13:59.995
But for now, let's crush 2025 with these solid, golden nuggets of wisdom.
00:13:59.995 --> 00:14:03.509
As always, let's keep fighting the good fight.
