Do you hate eating salads as much as I do?
No seriously?
My Dad calls eating a salad like “eating a weed”
LOL,
well If you hate eating salads as much as I do let me suggest a great substitute recipe for your salad consumption.
Yes I said recipe.
Even the mojo minutes can certainly have recipes.
A strong, very strong tip of the cap to Dr. Joel Fuhrman the author of the End of Dieting: How to live for life.
It in he gives us The Eat your Greens Super juice recipe!
And before we dive into the recipe, lets pull from the weeds, (no pun intended) this great nugget of wisdom from the book.
Here’s the quote of wisdom!
“Have green smoothies for breakfast. Many people love blending kale, lettuce, spinach, flaxseeds, or chia or hemp seeds with some fresh or frozen fruit to make a satisfying and healthy thick “blended salad” for breakfast. This is a tasty way to get your raw kale or collards in your daily diet. Remember: Raw cruciferous vegetables, blended or chewed well, give us the largest amount of isothiocyanates, which have powerful anticancer benefits. Smoothies are so easy and so quick and have made a profound difference in the health and lives of thousands of people.” ~ End of Dieting
Now, I will be honest, I have NEVER, NEVER drank my Super juice green smoothie for breakfeast.
That would take absolutely heroic proportions of will power that I just dont have that early in the morning!
I’m doing well to crank out my morning workout
but to be asked to consume a hearty breakfeast of collared greens and kale is well.....not for the faint of heart! He he
Regardless,
Lets check out the List of ingredients for this recipe:
We have...
INGREDIENTS
3 ounces baby spinach or kale
2 ounces romaine lettuce
1 banana
1 cup frozen or fresh blueberries
1/2 cup unsweetened soy, hemp or almond milk
1/2 cup pomegranate juice or other unsweetened fruit juice
1 tablespoon ground flaxseeds
DIRECTIONS
Blend all ingredients in a high-powered blender until smooth and creamy.
That doesnt seem to bad, right?
I will mention as cautionary note here: I’m using a vitamix blender, which blends almost anything into a liquified gold!
(At least that is what the sales guy on QVC said when he sold me on it and I picked up the phone and placed my order within minutes)
So I mention this ONLY to say, that i have given this recipe out to others who have tried it with other blenders and if you blender doesnt blend and cut up things very well--this MAY NOT be appealing to you)
I have heard of a grittiness of the greens described to me that made me wince at the thought of drinking gritty greens.
Yea thats not very appealing at all.
BUT BUT, if you have a blender that does very well and my vitamix is super good.
I mean industrial, commercial grade, restaurant-caliber , super kally fragelious expedialous doches good
at blending things so much that my Superjuice of all these ingredients are in a pure liquidified, smooth and creamy drinkable salad.
So if you have that type of blender than this recipe is MONEY!
You will LOVE IT! Guarantee it!
So in todays MOJO Minute, because we cherish our health and we know that it is a foundational pillar in living out a flourishing day, week, month, year and lifetime.
Then.....Perhaps we can begin or continue to eat our veggies as one small BUT very big part of improving our overall health.
And perhaps, just perhaps,
if you hate eating salads as much as I do, perhaps you can choose to drink your blended salad as way of consuming your veggies?
I only ask the question because consuming your veggies is one of the most important ways to get instantly healthier.
Let me close by saying, there is many time, that I have thanked God for this recipe while drinking my salad!
So here’s to your health!...
Here’s to consuming your veggies...
And Here’s to your drinking your blended salad...
Cheers!
