Welcome to the theory to action podcast, where we examine the timeless treasures of wisdom from the great books and less time to help you take action immediately and ultimately to create and lead a flourishing life. Now here's your host, David Kaiser .

Speaker 2:

Hello, I'm David. And welcome back to another mojo minute in leading an inspired life. One of my favorite books, by the way, Jim Rome gives us some great wisdom saying, quote, it all comes down to a philosophical phrase. The things that are easy to do are also easy not to do. That's the difference between success and failure between daydreams and ambitions, unquote to easys easy to do easy, not to do. For example, in my own life, it's easy to food. Log what I eat into my fitness pal app on my phone that helped me lose 50 pounds in my first two times, completing P90X. And it's also easy not to do, which led me to gain my weight back easy to do and easy not to do two easies . Jim Rome goes on to say, it's the key formula for success? A few well thought out disciplines practiced every day. Hmm . That's interesting. So how about you? What are your easies ? How about those fundamentals? Do you have any of your quote easies set up? How about those am and PM bookends from the compound effect we talked about, are you ready to rock them every morning? And every night, remember it's easy to do and it's easy not to do. It's like brushing your teeth easy to do, easy not to do so. If you master the art of the two easies , you will be building your habits and virtues, and then you are on the road to character building and self-mastery and discipline. It's funny in the very first personal development book I ever read the slight edge by Jeff Olsen , great book, by the way, he echoes the very same wisdom. Here's what Olson tells us, quote, tapping into the slight edge means doing things that are easy to do. Simple little disciplines that done consistently over time will add up to very big accomplishments. Unquote , that's the choice we have every day. Isn't it. So in today's mojo minute, examine your two easies . What's one habit you can start doing today that will reap big accomplishments, especially if he did it every day. It could be very small. Tiny. In fact, most of these mundane insignificant habits are very tiny because that is the choice feet we face, right? A choice every hour of every day. And Jeff Olson tells us this quote, a simple positive action repeated over time or a simple error in judgment repeated every time either one won't make you rich in most times it won't kill you, but you can count on the slight edge, always working. And unless you make it work for you, the slight edge will work against you on quote two , Easy's easy to do, easy, not to do, make your choice wisely.
