Hello, I'm David and welcome back to another Mojo Minute. Today is the last day in May. And that is a special day in the hearts of most Americans. It is Memorial Day, and officially it is the beginning of the summer season, the barbecues and that grills will be firing up the pools will be opening, and many folks across the country will be traveling to see relatives jet off to the beach, most likely to start their summer vacations. But for a good many Americans today is also special because it's a Day of Remembrance Day where we honor the men and women who died while serving in the United States military and protecting our country. Traditionally families might visit cemeteries or memorials. Hold family gatherings, and usually many small towns and cities will host a Memorial Day Parade today, a new tradition just started in the year 2000 was with an act of Congress that act asked Americans to stop at 3pm local time on Memorial Day for a National Moment of Remembrance. So in honor of that tradition we will pause now for a moment of silence. Thank you. In the wake of the last year, the year 2020 with its COVID lockdowns turmoil and strife rampid throughout our country, it would be well of us to remember those who have fought and died for our liberty, and our freedom. After all, this country is uniquely exceptional in the history of the world for all time. It is a most profound thought to contemplate the sacrifices made by our US military. Over the past 245 years, to help us with this contemplation, and to help celebrate Memorial Day, May I read an excerpt from one of the greatest yet unknown speeches given as a tribute to the American soldier. It was given by, it was given by General Douglas MacArthur and his final speech to the Corps of Cadets, at the West Point Military Academy in 1962. Here begins the general, quote, It is the story of the American Man at Arms. My estimate of him was formed on the battlefield many, many years ago, and has never changed. I regarded him then, as I regard him now. As one of the world's noblest figures, not only one of the finest military characters, but also as one of the most stainless. His name and fame, are the birthright of every American citizen. In his youth, and strength. His love and loyalty. He gave all that morality can give. He needs no eulogy for me or for many other man. He has written his own history and written it and read on his enemies breast. But when I think of his patient. Patients under adversity of his courage under fire, and of his modesty and victory. I am filled with an emotion of admiration. I cannot put into words. He belongs to history as furnishing one of the greatest examples of Payton successful patriotism. He belongs to past posterity. As the instructor of future generations, and the principles of liberty and freedom. He belongs to the present to us by His virtues and by his achievements in 20 campaigns on 100 battlefields around 1000 campfires, I have witnessed that enduring fortitude that patriotic patriotic self Abnegation and that invincible determination, which have carved his statue in the hearts of his people from one end of the world to the other. He has drained the chalice of courage. Quote. On this Memorial Day to our fallen servicemen and women and their families. And on behalf of a grateful nation. We at the Mojo Academy say a heartfelt thank you. May God bless you and may God bless the United States of America.
