00:00:01.661 --> 00:00:13.752
Those are the drums of liberty, and those drums have been banging loudly, more loudly in the last five weeks than they ever have in over 100 years.
00:00:13.752 --> 00:00:14.192
Why?
00:00:14.192 --> 00:00:18.469
Let's talk about it on this Liberty Minute.
00:00:23.062 --> 00:00:36.268
Welcome to the Theory to Action podcast, where we examine the timeless treasures of wisdom from the great books in less time, to help you take action immediately and ultimately to create and lead a flourishing life.
00:00:36.268 --> 00:00:40.310
Now here's your host, David Kaiser.
00:00:40.960 --> 00:00:42.222
Hello, I am David and welcome back to another Liberty Minute.
00:00:42.222 --> 00:00:44.625
Hello, I am David and welcome back to another Liberty Minute.
00:00:44.625 --> 00:00:52.115
Over 100 years ago America was roughly 95 million Americans.
00:00:52.115 --> 00:00:59.101
In the 1912 election, roughly 15 million Americans voted.
00:00:59.101 --> 00:01:08.594
The voting age was 21 years old back then and women's suffrage was not nation or wasn't nationwide until 1920.
00:01:08.594 --> 00:01:21.885
So roughly about 13% of the US population at the time was foreign-born and many of them were not yet citizens with the right to vote.
00:01:21.885 --> 00:01:24.049
We actually did enforce that back then.
00:01:24.049 --> 00:01:40.563
That calculates to about 6 million non-citizens and sadly, in the American South Jim Crow laws had disenfranchised most African American men of voting age Upwards.
00:01:40.563 --> 00:01:57.093
Between 70% and 90% of them had been suppressed for over two, three, sometimes five or six decades Because of the post-reconstruction policies of racist governors and legislatures.
00:01:57.093 --> 00:02:05.213
So in total, roughly 85 million folks could not vote for one reason or another.
00:02:07.260 --> 00:02:13.774
And liberty always suffers and is hurt when human freedom is restricted by evildoers.
00:02:13.774 --> 00:02:38.919
So when a revolution is taking place and that is the world in which Woodrow Wilson began his attack on the founders of our country, it was a revolution of sorts more like a slow-moving prairie fire of a revolution that no one wants to fully put out the flames.
00:02:38.919 --> 00:02:44.384
So you fast forward to today, 2025, and we are watching.
00:02:44.384 --> 00:02:56.477
What we hope at the Mojo Academy is a counter-revolution to all that rubbish that has happened over the last 100 years.
00:02:56.477 --> 00:03:01.290
Now you might ask what is all that rubbish, David, that you're speaking of?
00:03:01.290 --> 00:03:10.221
Well, it took us a five-part series in this podcast to put it all together, so we'll leave the links for you in the show notes if you want to dig deeper.
00:03:10.221 --> 00:03:20.443
But we do have a great quote that can catch us up very quickly, and so with that, let's go to our first pull quote.
00:03:22.807 --> 00:03:33.187
At some point, some president was going to have to stop the unsustainable spending and borrowing To have any country left.
00:03:33.187 --> 00:03:43.671
Some president would eventually have had to restore a non-existent border and stop the influx of 3 million illegal aliens a year.
00:03:43.671 --> 00:03:48.020
Stop the influx of 3 million illegal aliens a year.
00:03:48.020 --> 00:03:58.158
Some commander-in-chief, finally, would have to try to stop the theater wars abroad.
00:03:58.158 --> 00:04:07.400
But any president who dared to do any of that would be damned for curbing the madness that his predecessors fueled.
00:04:07.400 --> 00:04:12.253
And so none did Until now.
00:04:12.253 --> 00:04:25.834
Not since Franklin Roosevelt's rapid mass implementation of the New Deal administrative state have Americans seen such radical changes so quickly as now, in Trump's first month of governance.
00:04:25.834 --> 00:04:36.571
Americans are watching a long-awaited counter-revolution to bring the country out of its madness by restoring the common sense of the recent past.
00:04:37.620 --> 00:04:41.771
It's easy to run up massive debts and hard to pay them back.
00:04:41.771 --> 00:04:50.788
Politicians profit by handing out grants and hiring thousands with someone else's money or creating new programs by growing the debt.
00:04:50.788 --> 00:04:56.007
Yet it is unpopular and considered.
00:04:56.007 --> 00:05:03.230
Quote mean to spend only what you have and to create a lean, competent workforce.
00:05:03.230 --> 00:05:08.199
And to create a lean, competent workforce.
00:05:08.199 --> 00:05:15.939
1776, not 1619, is the foundational date of America.
00:05:17.300 --> 00:05:26.367
And that, my friends, is some excellent, excellent writing from the hardest-working historian on this God's good green earth, and that man is Victor Davis Hanson.
00:05:26.367 --> 00:05:38.370
We featured him before and he has written, frankly, one of the very best columns about one of the very best subjects in probably the last three decades.
00:05:38.370 --> 00:05:40.014
Why?
00:05:40.014 --> 00:05:59.937
Because the trend that we as a country were on with escalating $36 trillion deficits, and that's $36 trillion with a T, $36 trillion in debt was beyond unsustainable.
00:05:59.937 --> 00:06:09.793
We were hemorrhaging and both parties, frankly, were addicted to the spending of other people's money.
00:06:09.793 --> 00:06:16.552
In fact, let's go back to VDH, as we call him here, for some more goodness.
00:06:18.500 --> 00:06:29.432
Biological men should not manipulate their greater size and strength to undermine the hard-won accomplishment of women athletes.
00:06:29.432 --> 00:06:36.793
Affordable fossil fuels, when used wisely, are still essential to modern prosperity.
00:06:36.793 --> 00:06:45.451
American education must remain empirical and inductive, not regress into indoctrination and deduction.
00:06:45.451 --> 00:06:55.846
If college campuses no longer abide by the Bill of Rights, then perhaps they should pay taxes on income from their endowments and guarantee their own student loans.
00:06:55.846 --> 00:07:14.694
If American citizens are arrested and arraigned for violent assaults, destroying property and resisting arrest, then surely foreign students who break those laws, especially of their host, should be held to the same account and, if guilty, go home.
00:07:14.694 --> 00:07:27.956
Tribalism and racialism and government spoils allotted by superficial appearances are the marks of a pre-civilized society.
00:07:27.956 --> 00:07:34.413
Such racialism leads only to endless factions and discord.
00:07:34.413 --> 00:07:39.170
It's easy to destroy a border and it's hard to reconstruct it.
00:07:39.170 --> 00:07:49.029
It was not Trump who invented a $12 million unaudited illegal aliens and a half a million of them criminals.
00:07:53.435 --> 00:07:56.946
Who is the real culprit in the Defense Department?
00:07:56.946 --> 00:08:09.927
The new secretary with the hard task of restoring the idea among the depleted ranks that our race, religion and gender are incidental, not essential, to defeating the enemy and ensuring our national security?
00:08:09.927 --> 00:08:24.851
Is it really wise to divert money from needed combat units and weapons to indoctrinate recruits with social and cultural agendas that do not enhance but likely undermine our national defenses.
00:08:24.851 --> 00:08:29.125
And who is the real callous actor?
00:08:29.125 --> 00:08:37.229
Elon Musk, who is trying to prevent the country from insolvency by eliminating fraud, waste?
00:08:37.229 --> 00:08:51.166
Or those who bloated the bureaucracy in the first place with jobs and subsidies for their constituents, friends, clients and fellow ideologues?
00:08:51.166 --> 00:08:55.745
No one likes to fire FBI agents.
00:08:55.745 --> 00:09:00.605
That is certainly an unpleasant job for the new FBI Director, Kash Patel.
00:09:00.605 --> 00:09:04.596
But again, who are the true culprits?
00:09:04.596 --> 00:09:23.889
Who so cavalierly turned a hallowed agenda into a weaponized tool to warp elections, harass political enemies, lie under oath, surveil parents at school board meetings, doctor court documents and protect insider friends?
00:09:23.889 --> 00:09:30.043
Oh yes, Right on, right on.
00:09:30.043 --> 00:09:31.679
Hubba hubba.
00:09:35.639 --> 00:09:39.467
This is the best Victor Davis Hanson writing in the last three decades.
00:09:39.467 --> 00:09:41.760
Guarantee, it has to be a top 10.
00:09:41.760 --> 00:09:47.807
This is like watching Michael Jordan score 63 in Boston Garden against Larry Bird.
00:09:47.807 --> 00:09:56.989
Now, folks, for the last 100 years plus, we have seen a slow-moving revolution happening in our country.
00:09:56.989 --> 00:10:13.833
We were the frog in the pan of water, with the heat slowly being turned up on us, year after year after year, and no one could turn it around.
00:10:13.833 --> 00:10:19.014
Let's go back to VDH for some more goodness.
00:10:22.995 --> 00:10:25.158
Massive borrowing is an opiate addiction that needs shock treatment.
00:10:25.158 --> 00:10:26.078
No more deficits to break the habit.
00:10:26.078 --> 00:10:35.350
An unchecked administrative state becomes an organic organism that exists only to grow larger, more powerful and more resistant to any who seek to curb it.
00:10:35.350 --> 00:10:46.009
Yet those who brought the cultural revolution of the last years are now screaming that it is unfair to restore what they have undermined.
00:10:46.009 --> 00:10:55.926
It is as if a patient blames only the tough chemotherapy and not the invasive cancer that it seeks to cure.
00:10:57.696 --> 00:11:00.803
Most of the Trump people are not high-fiving.
00:11:00.803 --> 00:11:10.360
While firing people, they're not laying off minors or frackers or directing them to go code or dismissing half the country as deplorables.
00:11:10.360 --> 00:11:19.008
The left screams that those who are tasked with balancing a budget, pruning back a strangling bureaucracy, are heartless.
00:11:19.008 --> 00:11:35.528
No, the pitiless are those who recklessly sought to hire with borrowed money and fired people on the basis of their race, used federal programs to feather their own nest and harassed and arrested those for their policies and politics.
00:11:35.528 --> 00:11:39.582
No SWAT teams are now raiding the homes of ex-presidents.
00:11:39.582 --> 00:11:41.648
Perhaps they should be.
00:11:41.648 --> 00:11:44.922
That's not VDH, that was me.
00:11:44.922 --> 00:11:48.914
No one is trying to take a presidential rival off state ballots.
00:11:48.914 --> 00:11:55.947
No one is coordinating local, state and federal prosecutors to indict, harass and bankrupt an ex-president.
00:11:55.947 --> 00:11:57.389
And no president.
00:11:57.389 --> 00:12:10.500
His dementia, sheathed by political insiders and a toadish media, is working three days a week, avoiding press conferences or stonewalling reporters' questions.
00:12:10.500 --> 00:12:20.020
No wonder the current normal seems abnormal to the status quo of the recent past.
00:12:20.020 --> 00:12:28.863
As they used to say, down on the farm, we doggy, he is cooking.
00:12:28.863 --> 00:12:34.216
That is so good, so so good Way.
00:12:34.256 --> 00:12:42.505
Back in Liberty Minute 35, we spoke about this radical revolution, Called it the most radical revolution since the days of the Civil War.
00:12:42.505 --> 00:12:53.326
It was like it caught fire for the whole country, exacerbated itself in the 1912 election and has been like a prairie fire spreading for those 100 years.
00:12:53.326 --> 00:13:05.403
And back in Liberty Minute 57, we said of the election of November 2024 that the cultural revolution was over.
00:13:05.403 --> 00:13:18.416
And, folks, just five weeks in, we are more pleased than ever.
00:13:18.416 --> 00:13:19.278
Let's put the foot on the gas, please.
00:13:19.278 --> 00:13:30.595
The cleanup of this revolution will take years, likely 10 to 20 years, but it has begun and let it continue to go faster and faster.
00:13:30.995 --> 00:13:56.624
So in today's Liberty Minute, what began in the Civil War continued on through Reconstruction in the South and then continued to spread like a prairie fire across the country for over 100 years in various forms and fashions, with progressivism and then liberalism and then radical liberalism and then finally and frankly, despotism.
00:13:56.624 --> 00:14:17.884
Now is being confronted head on and that fire is being put out, that fire is being extinguished fully and completely, and we are very excited to see where this counter-revolution takes us, what it is in fact can restore to the American people.
00:14:17.884 --> 00:14:56.772
If indeed liberty is one of those gifts given back to the great men and women of this country after some 100 years of that cultural revolution going at breakneck speed, if liberty is given back only in drips and drabs, well then let us say unequivocally praise be Jesus Christ, Because, looking back over the last 100 to 160 years, only God's providential hand could have undone the damaged landscape of our country's past.
00:14:56.772 --> 00:15:09.975
And so it is with extreme pride, as this counter-revolution begins, that we can repeat two of the greatest quotes from two great Americans.
00:15:11.181 --> 00:15:21.316
The first, from the great civil rights activist Martin Luther King, said this on April 7th 1957 in a speech about the birth of a new nation.
00:15:21.316 --> 00:15:28.933
Quote freedom must ring from every countryside, sorry, from every mountainside.
00:15:28.933 --> 00:15:31.788
Freedom must ring from every mountainside.
00:15:31.788 --> 00:15:34.909
And so this afternoon I have a dream.
00:15:34.909 --> 00:15:43.349
I have a dream deeply rooted in the American dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed.
00:15:43.349 --> 00:15:48.951
We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal.
00:15:48.951 --> 00:16:15.086
Now, this was obviously delivered years before his famous I have a Dream speech on the Washington Mall, but this sermon ties in the King's view of liberty to be the founding ideals of America, of its equality, of its self-evident rights, which all Americans can proudly say now amen.
00:16:16.708 --> 00:16:21.503
And finally, our second great American is our 40th president of the United States, Ronald Reagan.
00:16:21.503 --> 00:16:25.332
When he says, you and I have a rendezvous with destiny.
00:16:25.332 --> 00:16:45.259
We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the last step into a thousand years of darkness, to take the last step into a thousand years of darkness.
00:16:45.259 --> 00:16:56.793
Now Reagan's framing of liberty as a fragile gift that must be actively defended against the creep of a big bureaucratic, centralized, control-administrative state.
00:16:56.793 --> 00:17:08.134
Folks, we were staring directly at that big centralized, administrative state.
00:17:08.134 --> 00:17:14.133
We were staring directly at it and behind it was a thousand years of darkness.
00:17:14.133 --> 00:17:19.869
We were staring at that darkness in November of 2024.
00:17:19.869 --> 00:17:26.482
So again, praise be Jesus Christ, that we chose right.
00:17:26.482 --> 00:17:28.705
I thank God for all you liberty lovers out there.
00:17:28.705 --> 00:17:32.151
Thank God that the counter-revolution has begun.
00:17:32.151 --> 00:17:35.154
Let us pray that it continues.
00:17:35.154 --> 00:17:48.909
Please, Lord, let it continue and, as always, let's keep fighting the good fight.
00:17:49.028 --> 00:17:50.290
Thank you for joining us.
00:17:50.290 --> 00:17:53.634
