This episode promises to deepen your understanding of these ongoing conflicts and the fragile balance of power in the region.

Key Points from the Episode:

  • You'll gain insights into how Israel's advanced air defense systems like the Iron Dome, David's Sling, and Arrow systems form an almost impenetrable shield against unprecedented threats.
  • Alongside this geopolitical analysis, we're excited to highlight Trey Yingst's compelling new book, "Black Saturday: The Unfiltered Account of October 7th on Israel and the War in Gaza."
  • As a respected voice from Fox News, Trey provides a rare and nuanced view of the harrowing events and the complex human stories from both Israeli and Palestinian perspectives.

00:00:01.681 --> 00:00:03.204
Those are the drums of liberty.

00:00:03.204 --> 00:00:11.882
Those are the drums banging loudly in Israel Black Saturday one year ago.

00:00:11.882 --> 00:00:14.827
Where do we stand now?

00:00:14.827 --> 00:00:18.995
Let's talk about it on this Liberty Minute.

00:00:28.841 --> 00:00:36.268
Welcome to the Theory to Action podcast, where we examine the timeless treasures of wisdom from the great books in less time, to help you take action immediately and ultimately to create and lead a flourishing life.

00:00:36.268 --> 00:00:40.310
Now here's your host, David Kaiser.

00:00:41.823 --> 00:00:44.399
Hello, I am David and welcome back to another Liberty Minute.

00:00:44.399 --> 00:00:56.192
And this Liberty Minute is being recorded on Friday, october 4th, and we point that out because events in the 21st century move much more rapidly than ever before.

00:00:56.192 --> 00:01:06.593
I'll be traveling over this weekend, so when this is posted it may contain some obvious old elements of the story which we're going to talk about today.

00:01:06.593 --> 00:01:25.757
But let's jump right into it, because on October 1st, just some six days before the one year anniversary of Black Saturday, of October 7th 2023.

00:01:25.757 --> 00:01:32.893
Black Saturday, as it's known in Israel, is when Israel faced its 9-11.

00:01:32.893 --> 00:01:49.560
We covered this last year, but Israel has been in an existential fight for the last year, frankly, fight for the last part of this, for the last year, frankly.

00:01:49.560 --> 00:02:07.891
And that fight took on an even more dire ramification as, on October 1st, iran launched a significant ballistic missile attack against Israel, marking a major escalation in the ongoing tensions between the two countries.

00:02:09.961 --> 00:02:21.655
Now here's the key details of this attack Iran launched approximately between 180 to 200 ballistic missiles which targeted Israel.

00:02:21.655 --> 00:02:25.711
They were launched from Iranian territory.

00:02:25.711 --> 00:02:35.487
This attack was significantly larger than Iran's previous missile attack in April 2024, which involved about 120 missiles.

00:02:35.487 --> 00:02:53.775
The missiles used in this attack included the Ahmad and the Ghadar ballistic missiles and the GADAR ballistic missiles, and reportedly, they used the new domestically produced hypersonic medium-range missile, the Fatah II.

00:02:53.775 --> 00:03:03.627
Now, israel's attack aimed to inflict significant damage on Israel by overwhelming its air defenses, particularly in central Israel.

00:03:03.627 --> 00:03:12.412
Its specific targets included the Mossad headquarters near Tel Aviv, two Israeli Air Force bases and other military and security installations.

00:03:12.412 --> 00:03:39.471
Now, israel's air defenses were absolutely stunning because they were activated and they managed to intercept almost all of the incoming missiles, and its success in countering the attack can be attributed to its sophisticated, multi-tiered air defense system with its three parts the Iron Dome, david's Sling and the Arrow 2 and Arrow 3.

00:03:39.471 --> 00:04:27.495
Now, this layered approach allowed Israel to effectively counter the diverse range of missiles employed in the attack of the world yes, the largest ballistic missile strike on a nation state ever in the history of the world.

00:04:27.495 --> 00:04:37.949
Now, israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Iran made a big mistake and will pay, and Israel vowed to retaliate.

00:04:37.949 --> 00:04:50.245
Idf spokesman Daniel Hargari declared that operational plans were ready and they were going to be conducting a response very, very quickly.

00:04:52.189 --> 00:05:03.774
But all this started with Black Saturday on October 7th one year ago, and when Hamas, the proxy terrorist group from Iran in the Gaza Strip.

00:05:03.774 --> 00:05:17.019
Moss, the proxy terrorist group from Iran and the Gaza Strip, essentially 9-11 style, sucker punched Israel by invading their country.

00:05:17.019 --> 00:05:26.814
Originally I was going to do this episode all about that attack because one of the best reporters in the Middle East, fox News' Trey Yanksanks, just released a book about the whole experience.

00:05:26.814 --> 00:05:51.101
It's titled Black Saturday the unfiltered account of October 7th on Israel and the war in Gaza, and it is his firsthand account of the Hamas attack on Israel and the subsequent war, israel and the subsequent war.

00:05:51.101 --> 00:05:53.766
Now, while I like Trey, I think he's a very good reporter.

00:05:53.766 --> 00:05:55.149
He's very detailed, he's very direct.

00:05:55.149 --> 00:05:58.757
He does try to get both sides of the story.

00:05:58.757 --> 00:06:12.266
He understands there's human beings involved and this book, so far my reading, is a detailed chronicle of the October 7th attack and he offers multiple perspectives.

00:06:12.266 --> 00:06:22.367
He grabs perspectives from the Israeli side and from the Palestinian side or the Hamas side.

00:06:22.367 --> 00:06:43.699
He has high-ranking Israeli soldiers, he has Defense Minister Yov Galant for Israel, he has Hamas officials, he has Palestinian civilians and journalists that get caught up in this and there's also Israeli survivors and released hostages.

00:06:43.699 --> 00:06:46.329
So it is a very in-depth book.

00:06:46.329 --> 00:07:30.490
I wanted to cover it, but I thought it more important that we cover the broader war that's happening because these breaking news and the amount of death that happened on October 7th and the amount of death that happened on October 7th you know, this is the largest amount of Jewish people that were killed, going all the way back to the Holocaust, all the way back to World War II that's just a remarkable and very sad, very horrific attack that we just have to cover and this book is going to help us do that.

00:07:30.490 --> 00:07:39.956
Unlikely, frankly, the Middle East has changed forever If we take a step back in the last 12 months.

00:07:39.956 --> 00:07:43.244
It's just been absolutely remarkable.

00:07:45.531 --> 00:07:53.858
In fact, let me pull from this Wall Street Journal article because Jerry Baker is the editor of the Wall Street Journal.

00:07:53.858 --> 00:08:02.666
Jerry Baker is the editor of the Wall Street Journal and just a week before I was going to include it in the Black Saturday Liberty Minute.

00:08:02.666 --> 00:08:09.261
But we need to cover more of this article.

00:08:09.261 --> 00:08:21.744
The title of it is Israel Defends Itself and May Save the Western Civilization, and the subtitle was the equivocation of Biden, harris and other leaders should cause us all to feel a degree of shame.

00:08:21.744 --> 00:08:25.052
Let's go to the article.

00:08:25.052 --> 00:08:48.486
How will we ever repay the debt we owe Israel, what the Jewish state has done in the past year for its own defense but in the process, and not coincidentally, for the security of us all, will rank among the most important contributions to the defense of Western civilization in the past three quarters of a century.

00:08:48.486 --> 00:09:13.607
With a devastating attack on its people beyond the fetid imagining of some of the vilest anti-Semites, israel has, in 12 months, done nothing less than redraw the balance of global security, not just in the region but in the wider world.

00:09:13.607 --> 00:09:38.046
And Jerry Gibson absolutely correct, I mean absolutely right the security of all peace-loving states, the UAE and Bahrain.

00:09:39.011 --> 00:09:40.577
That was groundbreaking.

00:09:40.577 --> 00:09:47.543
I mean, we about threw a ticker tape parade for President Carter on the Camp David Accords.

00:09:47.543 --> 00:09:49.014
And that was just one.

00:09:49.014 --> 00:09:49.817
That was Egypt.

00:09:49.817 --> 00:09:55.101
We had two in one day.

00:09:55.101 --> 00:09:58.302
We had two in one day.

00:09:58.302 --> 00:10:07.205
And then there was another round a little bit later on, before President Trump left office.

00:10:07.205 --> 00:10:08.230
That other round included Morocco and Sudan.

00:10:08.230 --> 00:10:15.129
So the Abraham Accords marked a significant shift in Middle East diplomacy.

00:10:15.129 --> 00:10:27.620
Marked a significant shift in Middle East diplomacy as these were the first normalization agreements between Israel and the Arab states since Israel's peace treaties with Egypt in 1979, like I just mentioned, and Jordan in 1994.

00:10:27.620 --> 00:10:29.196
Extremely powerful.

00:10:29.196 --> 00:10:38.556
And then Israel's attack on October 7, 2023, 9-11 style Just absolutely horrific.

00:10:38.696 --> 00:10:39.679
Let's go back to the article.

00:10:39.679 --> 00:10:57.121
It has eliminated and it being Israel has eliminated thousands of terrorists whose commitment to a savage theocratic ideology has claimed so many lives across the region and the world for decades, has claimed so many lives across the region and the world for decades.

00:10:57.121 --> 00:11:13.274
It has, with extraordinary tactical accuracy, dispatched some of the masterminds of the worst evil on the planet, including most recently, hassan Nasrallah, the Hezbollah leader in Lebanon.

00:11:13.274 --> 00:11:22.789
It has repelled and then reversed previously extraordinarily advancing power of one of the worst, world's most terrifying autocracies, the Islamic Republic of Iran.

00:11:22.789 --> 00:11:49.889
And it has demonstrated to all the West foes, including Iran's allies in Moscow and Beijing, that our system, our free markets and free people, that our system, our free markets and free people and the voluntary alliance network we have constructed to defend it, generates resources and capabilities of vast technical superiority.

00:11:49.889 --> 00:12:11.217
Above all, it has provided an unexpected but crucial reminder to our enemies that there are at least some, and here's where Jerry Baker makes his main point.

00:12:11.238 --> 00:12:19.432
The only appropriate responses to Israel's gallantry, fortitude and skill from us is Its nominal allies, especially in the United States, are thank you.

00:12:19.432 --> 00:12:21.316
And how can we help?

00:12:21.316 --> 00:12:25.350
Absolutely, of course.

00:12:25.350 --> 00:12:26.212
How can we help?

00:12:26.212 --> 00:12:38.756
Israel is doing what most and all peace-loving peoples all over the world want them to do Take out and remove the terrorist period Full stop.

00:12:38.756 --> 00:12:42.575
Terrorism has no place in the civilized world.

00:12:42.575 --> 00:12:52.515
In fact, israel has had to overcome a US administration that is so weak and corrupt, and Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, that it's frankly mind-blowing.

00:12:52.515 --> 00:13:03.299
History will judge this US administration as feeble, small-minded and the worst in US history.

00:13:03.299 --> 00:13:05.309
Mark that down.

00:13:05.309 --> 00:13:15.936
And yet, when the US people have had the worst in their history, israel has had the very best in its history.

00:13:15.936 --> 00:13:34.511
Bibi wonderfully said before the US Congress on July 4th 2024, and before the world at the UN on September 27th our victory is your victory, our peace is your peace and Israel is winning.

00:13:34.511 --> 00:13:38.113
And here was the real breakthrough.

00:13:38.113 --> 00:13:56.355
Bibi spoke of a new Middle East without terrorism and emphasized the achieving a peace agreement between Israel and Saudi Arabia Absolutely unheard of less than a short five years ago and even more so less than 10 years ago.

00:13:57.284 --> 00:14:05.149
Saudi Arabia doesn't like Iran and the region Doesn't like its bully nature around the Gulf.

00:14:05.149 --> 00:14:10.599
So, secretly, saudi Arabia wants Israel to hammer Iran into oblivion.

00:14:10.599 --> 00:14:19.996
Saudi Arabia's interest in Israel's success against Iran and its proxies has several key factors.

00:14:19.996 --> 00:14:29.457
It's a regional rivalry and Saudi Arabia wants to compete for influence in the Middle East but doesn't like the bully.

00:14:29.457 --> 00:14:33.331
Saudi Arabia has security concerns.

00:14:33.331 --> 00:14:36.159
Saudi Arabia has economic interest.

00:14:36.159 --> 00:14:42.297
There's a strategic alignment and, obviously, leadership in the Muslim world.

00:14:42.297 --> 00:14:44.609
Saudi Arabia wants to maintain its position.

00:14:44.609 --> 00:14:51.407
Certainly has Mecca and Medina, global centers of Islam.

00:14:51.407 --> 00:15:00.855
But Iran has been a bully for far too long and has been the largest exporter of terror all around the world for far too many decades.

00:15:00.855 --> 00:15:04.414
And it's time they were dealt with, and they were dealt with harshly.

00:15:04.414 --> 00:15:18.879
The fact that Iran has launched two attacks from its own soil, not through its proxies, gives Israel the right to respond, and respond big and severe and deep.

00:15:19.745 --> 00:15:24.017
And let's go back to the article for just one more quote.

00:15:24.017 --> 00:15:37.120
Never in the field of human conflict has so much been owed to so few, so many few.

00:15:37.120 --> 00:15:46.578
Winston Churchill said of this, of the men of the Royal Air Force after they had repelled Hitler's Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain.

00:15:46.578 --> 00:16:08.692
We should echo those same words today, in awe of what a country smaller in the area an area than New Jersey, with a population less than North Carolina's and an economy smaller than that of Washington, state what it has done for all of us.

00:16:08.692 --> 00:16:28.833
As Israelis, solemnly Mark a year since October 7th on Monday, we should not only redouble our expressions of sympathy and solidarity, we should show them our gratitude and, if we are willing to be really honest, acknowledge a little of our own shame.

00:16:28.833 --> 00:16:33.041
Amen.

00:16:33.041 --> 00:16:41.289
If we could offer any advice to BB, it would be to disregard the US Administration's counsel.

00:16:42.424 --> 00:16:48.958
Following the attack in April of this year, the Biden administration urged Israel to respond minimally.

00:16:48.958 --> 00:16:58.993
President Biden suggested that Israel should quote take the win, given that there was no significant harm that had been inflicted.

00:16:58.993 --> 00:17:02.924
Given that there was no significant harm that had been inflicted.

00:17:02.924 --> 00:17:22.525
Now this marks the second instance of Iran escalating tensions and Israel should not limit its actions, except for refraining from using nuclear weapons, because if they use nuclear weapons, that could invite interference from Russia or China.

00:17:22.525 --> 00:17:38.231
But Israel has a right to thwart and expel Iran's nuclear ambitions over the next two decades and they can do that right now by taking out their nuclear facilities.

00:17:38.231 --> 00:17:39.835
Right now, by taking out their nuclear facilities.

00:17:39.855 --> 00:17:48.701
If there ever was justification for targeting Iran's nuclear facilities, this is it.

00:17:48.701 --> 00:18:02.778
Iran has demonstrated a willingness to use a nuclear bomb, if acquired, and would likely use it as a shield for conventional and terrorist assaults on Israel and Sunni Arab states and potentially the US later.

00:18:02.778 --> 00:18:10.939
Iran is closer than ever to developing a nuclear weapon and it shows no intention of holding its pursuit.

00:18:10.939 --> 00:18:14.893
So Israel must act.

00:18:14.893 --> 00:18:28.020
It must be decisive, it must be severe and it must be a deep attack on Iran, most especially their oil refineries and most especially their nuclear capability.

00:18:29.625 --> 00:18:41.401
So in today's Liberty Minute, as grave as this situation is in the Middle East and in the world in general, may liberty be restored to the Middle East.

00:18:41.565 --> 00:18:59.893
May liberty help Israel to reshape the Middle East in the next year, with the leadership of Bibi Netanyahu, who we have claimed from this microphone that this is our decade, our decade's Winston Churchill.

00:18:59.893 --> 00:19:11.037
And so, if we can paraphrase that great lion, mr Churchill himself, never in the field of human conflict has so much been owed by so many to so few.

00:19:11.037 --> 00:19:36.019
Let us pray for all peace-loving peoples in the Middle East that Israel will win this battle against the evildoers of hate and evil, and let peace come via Saudi Arabia and the other Gulf states as they work together for economic prosperity.

00:19:36.019 --> 00:19:47.077
A stronger and more economically vibrant Middle East can shout down those provocateurs that spew their hate and evil to the rest of the world, especially through terrorism.

00:19:47.077 --> 00:19:49.987
Their time has come to an end.

00:19:49.987 --> 00:20:06.259
Let Israel end it now and let the rest of Western civilization thank Israel in the history books Because, as Bibi told us and told the world, our peace is your peace.

00:20:06.259 --> 00:20:09.021
Our victory is your victory.

00:20:14.955 --> 00:20:15.880
Let liberty be victorious.
